"....Nathan was thirteen years old when he made the westward migration with his parents and others to Indiana. He was reared on a farm near Salem, Indiana, and on 11-18-1824, married Mary Darby Hollowell at the Blue River Meeting House.
The following is an extract from the marriage agreement of Nathan and Mary (Hollowell) Trueblood:

Whereas Nathan Trueblood of Wash Cty. . . , s Joshua Trueblood and Mary his wife of the
place. . ., and Mary darby Hollowell. . ., dt. of Thomas and Mary of Perquimans, N. C. (Both dec.). . .
18d, 11m, 1824. . .

Of the many signatures written as witnesses to this marriage are five Trueblood names: Nathan, Mary (bride and groom), Joshua, James, Mariam Trueblood.
Nathan and Mary Darby Trueblood were lifelong members of the Blue River Friends MM. They had known one another from childhood days, although the spark of love seemed to lie dormant until both were young people. The following story is related by E. Hicks Trueblood in the Introduction of the book 'Prophet of Blue River' (Sketch of Elwood Trueblood, son of Nathan)

On the migration from N.C. to Indiana, Nathan Trueblood met Mary Hollowell when the party stopped at her home. Nathan was 13 and Mary was 12 years old. This was the Mary who later became his wife, but the romance did not appear to develop then, as Nathan crawled under a chair and went to sleep....A year or two later Mary (14 yrs. old) and her frail brother Nathan Hollowell, who had been orphaned, made the same trip with fifteen other Friends. . . .(E.H.T. p. 25)

Nathan built his home north of Salem in the Blue River Community. About 8 or 9 years after that Nathan and some other children of Joshua and Mary (Henley) Trueblood moved westward about six miles to Oakey Grove. . . .(Oakley Grove Community later was known as the Highland Community, and the Friends' meeting there was and is still called Highland church.) Mary Darby Trueblood was an Elder of the Blue River MM and later of Highland MM.
Nathan died 2-13-1878 and lies beside his first wife." pg 43, 44

"....Mary Darby died from smallpox on 4-4-1851 (or 4-1-1851 on Memorial Stone.) She is buried in "Old Blue River Cemetery (ninth row; 10th stone)." pg 44

"...Oliver's neice, Lillian D. Trueblood, wrote an article for the Washington Historical Society, which appeared in the 'Indiana Magazine of History', entitled "Pioneer Schools of Highland."
. . .Trueblood families who attended Naugle school were Oliver Q. Trueblood, Joshua G. Trueblood, and Joseph Trueblood. . . All three were in the Civil War, and Oliver Q. died on the battlefield."
