"...They were both birthright Quakers and faithful all the days of their lives. After old age came, Alfred's time was spent in reading and finally recounting pioneer experiences, and quoting Scripture. One of his favorite Scriptures was:"The powers of the mind are the gift of His goodness, and the wonder of His hands,"" pg 80

Elma E. Trueblood....(Salem Democrat, December 9, 1885)
Since our last report, that dread monster, death, has removed one of our model young ladies, in the person of Miss Elma Trueblood, eldest daughter of Alfred and Eunice (Overman) Trueblood. She died last Monday morning at 5 o'clock of typhoid malarial fever, aged 27 years. When we say she was intelligent, and a true Christian lady, we speak understandingly, as she was a neighbor, and a long-to-be-remembered schoolmate of your humble correspondent. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this community.
