"...He made one or two trips into Indiana when he was a young man. His father, Joshua, and uncle, Isaac Overman, may have accompanied him on one of them. On 5-15-1844, james W. Trueblood was given a certificate of recommendation from his Friends Society monthly in Pasquotank to the Spiceland MM in Henry Co., Ind. During his sojourn here, James must have gone south to Salem, Indiana, to visit friends or to look the place over for possible settlement. Joshua wrote in his diary that, James, son of Joshua of Pasquotank, with Nathan Treublood, came to see him on 5-26-1845. He was probably living in Henry Co., Indiana, at that time and m contrary to the discipline of the Friends Society, since the Spiceland meeting sent word to the Pasquotank MM to "labor with James W. Trueblood." He had evidently gone back to North Carolina after his marriage and settled his offense, as the Pasquotank meeting dropped the complaint. James W. Trueblood was recorded in Pasquotank Co. in the Census of 1850. He was living with his wife, Emily (Brock), 20 years of age, and his year old son, Joshua. In the family with James Trueblood were Mrs. Nancy Brock, 45 years; James, 18 yrs.; Nancy, 14 yrs.; and Mary, 10 yrs. - - all of them were Brocks, probably Emily's mother, brother, and two sisters. Two children were born to this marriage before James's death about 1859." pg 93
