"...From an account of the Veiled Prophet Ball of St. Louis, Mo., October 1, 1961, St. Louis Post Dispatch:

This is the most important social affair which had been held annually since 1878. Will be held in Convention Hall in Kiel Auditorium. More than 10,000 guests are expected to meet the veiled Prophet who each year elevates the girl of his choice to be St. Louis's number one debutante as Queen of Love and Beauty, and four others to complete his immdiate court as special maids of honor.
One of the Maids of Honor, Miss Anne Lee Trueblood, represents the fifth generation of her family to hold an important place in the Annals of the Veiled Prophet. Her great-great-grandfather, William Hargadine Thompson, was the founder of the order. his daughter, July Hargadine Thompson, had the unique distinction of being selected by the Prophet to be his dancing partner at the ball in 1891, before coronation, so becoming one of a small group of uncrowned queens. Three years later she was special maid of honor in the Court of Hester Bates Laughlin. Miss Thompson was married a few years later to the Prophet who showed his admiration by choosing her as his dancing partner. She thus became Mrs. Charles Cummings Collins. Mrs. Collin's daughter Anne, Afterward Mrs. Knoz Taussig, was a special maid of honor in 1915, and Mrs. Taussig's daughter, now Mrs. Wilbur T, Trueblood, Jr., was a maid of honor in 1939. Mrs. Trueblood's daughter Miss Anne Lee Trueblood, will serve in the same capacity as maid of honor in 1961..." pg 179
