"....was born January 26, 1908, in Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kansas. She attended grade school in the Argentine District there and graduated from Argentine Senior High in 1928. She entered the first state music contest in 1927-1928, and won a music scholarship, in September, 1927, to the Conservatory of Music, Kansas City, Missouri. Music study continued under the Kansas City Guild of Music, and twenty years were spent in teaching music. On June 24, 1933, she married Herman Eugene Carroll, s Walter Shannon and Florence (Kirk) Carroll. Mrs. Carroll is a member of the Igas of Springfield, Mo., and attended the A.I.G.A. (grapho-analysts) in Linn Creek, Mo., in 1939. She holds a post-graduate diploma in this science, as taught by the founder, Milton Newman Bunker." pg 178
